Just a peek at the menu border concept we've got for the time being for the MLP Online game.

Most of you probably don't care about this stuff but oh well.

Since a lot of people don't seem to be familiar with the game, check it out! :iconmlpfimonline:

There are some bronies that were artists first. Those bronies would be more likely to care about this. I am one of those that do care.

I like the bottom one better than the top. Not as emphasized, yet still attractive to the point that it should be, which is not too much.

Also, it's good to see our nonexistent tax bits aren't going to waste. Haven't really seen an update from you guys in a while.

I think I prefer the softer looking lower one, but the monochromatic colour scheme is a little dull. I like the pattern though, it's groovy.

The thing is, you don't want a border to be too distracting, but at the same time, not super plain and boring. I think I've struck a nice balance between the two that, once implemented into the game with all the surrounding art and information, should fit in quite nicely. Thanks for the feedback, it is appreciated. :)

I see what you mean about being distracting. Now that I think about it, almost all video game HUDs are monochromatic, or very close to. WoW's is Silver and Gold, Fallout's is just one colour as is Oblivion's and most racing game HUDs are black and white.

Yeah, I think you're right, you've got the balance just right. With that in mind, I still think the smoother of the two works better, as the sharper lines of the other one could be a little distracting too.
