My Apologies

Journal Entry: Mon Mar 11, 2013, 6:03 PM
I need to put this out since I notice I still receive many messages and comments daily. I am and have been on hiatus for quite some time do to issues in my life and work, and I won't be active here for the foreseeable future. I greatly regret this but I have no choice in the matter, I simply have no time to make pony artwork or respond to the huge amount of questions and comments directed my way. I do try to get on and read them all when possible but I don't have time to reply, and I am sorry for that. I appreciate all the kind words and I hate not being able to thank each and every person individually.

I miss the community more than I ever thought I would, and I hope that someday I can be as active as much as I once was. Until then, this will be the last time I post a journal unless something important warrants another. Thanks everyone, it's been good. Love ya!

Wave 2 of Dash Drives?

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 4, 2012, 10:49 AM
If you've read my previous journal, you'd know that I'm looking to make some money to pay off some stuff. I've been considering doing a new batch of graphics for Dash Drives, and it was also suggested to me in a comment on my previous journal. If there is enough interest, I am seriously considering revamping the Dash Drive website and adding in a lot of new choices. If you're interested, please show your support in the comments and I am taking suggestions for new characters to add to the selection. Those that get the most suggestions are obviously the ones I will add first.

How to make some cash?

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 3, 2012, 2:10 PM
Hello everyone,

before I start, this is something to do with my personal life and not so much with ponies (although ponies could be involved, I suppose) so if you are only here to read about ponies, I don't want to waste your time. For those interested in what my problem is, read on.

I am in a situation where I basically need to make a minimum of $1500 fairly quickly. I'm not begging for cash, but rather for ideas on how I might be able to achieve my goal. I already have a job (USN) and that income is currently paying for living expenses and bills for myself and :iconnabbiekitty:. She is a Canadian citizen but is currently living with me in the US and so cannot work. I'm not going to go into details on that situation since it's personal info but suffice it to say, we really need this money. I've kicked around lots of ideas but they all have flaws that make them pretty much impossible for me to achieve. My biggest problem is a lack of sufficient free time to do something like a second job or other traditional time-intensive money-making plans. I've considered doing commissions many times but I feel I don't produce work that people are willing to pay more than a few bucks for, even though I spend a lot of time on most of the things I make. This dilemma has thwarted my commission attempts in the past, as well as just not having lots of time. Bank loans are not an option either; they make matters worse and are partially responsible for our need for extra income in the first place.

So..tl;dr, any suggestions on how I could get at least $1500 in a month or less?

Stranded On A Desert Island With A Friend

Journal Entry: Tue Sep 18, 2012, 8:25 PM
You wake to find yourself laying in the surf of a tropical island. It appears to be deserted, with no signs of civilization. You realize you'll have to survive off the land and that you're probably never going to get off this island. You are wandering in the trees later in the day when you encounter a pony. Her name is...

Choose the pony who will be your companion on this island. There is no hope of escape. Flying, teleporting, sailing, etc will not help you get away. You're here to stay, so who will be the pony you work with to survive? Choose your choice in the poll and give your reasons for your choice in the poll comments! Enjoy :)

Thanks!

I'd like to say thank you to all those that left me the many birthday wishes on my wall and in my inbox, and an extra-special thank you to those that gifted me with artwork! My birthday was pretty uneventful so seeing all of that brightened my day considerably! I was inspired enough by all the kindness to make some new vectors, so I'll upload a new one every day or so as I can.

My Art Use Policy

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 15, 2012, 12:25 PM
I get many many people asking me if they are allowed to use my deviations for various things, and since I don't have the time to be online here much anymore I wanted to put this out for everyone to be able to read. This will cover everything in my gallery that I can think of, and if I leave something out that you want to know, just ask in the comments and I will add it. :)

Regarding show-style vectors of official characters

DO:
- use these in any personal project you wish
- If shared or uploaded anywhere in any form, be it a collage, game, program, app, clothing, etc. credit the original source by posting a link to the original Deviation page.
- modify as much as you like, so long as credit to the original is still given.
- please notify me if you are using it for something that will be shared. I love to see what you all make! :D

DON'T:
- use in any form that is commercial or costs people money, regardless if you're making a profit or not. For example, Even if you put them on clothing and are only selling them for the cost of the materials only, this is not acceptable.
- re-upload anywhere and claim as your own or without crediting the original DA source page.

Regarding any artwork involving Original Characters designed by OTHER people and/or that I was commissioned to produce

Some of my deviations are paid for by other people and this artwork is solely theirs to utilize. It cannot be modified or used in any way without express permission from the commissioner and myself. An explanation as to what it will be used for needs to be provided before permission for use is given. Otherwise, it's there to look at. Feel free to comment and criticize though. ;)

Regarding any artwork involving characters I came up with
So far, the only character I've really designed in this fandom is Moongaze. Feel free to make anything you like involving her, so long as you're not claiming her as your own creation or using her for commercial purposes. Fanart is always appreciated and you do not need to ask permission to do so, of course! I absolutely love seeing other peoples' takes on her, especially since friends and watchers alike helped me shape her into her current incarnation!

Regarding icons and avatars

I made these specifically for people to use. Permission is not needed to use them, and typically there is nowhere to credit the original creator when it comes to icons and banners, so they are free to use for their intended purpose. :)

If there is anything I missed that you would like to know, ask me below!

Thanks,

Moongaze

Anyone going to Comic Con?

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 7, 2012, 9:54 AM
If so, anyone that is able to snag one of these for me I will send an 8GB dash drive with the color and design of your choosing that are available on [link]

I would love you forever as well :D

P.S. Only the first person to contact me about having the poster to send me gets a drive. I don't have the money to send out multiple drives in the chance that more than one person gets me a poster.

P.P.S. I apologize to all those that leave me comments and questions that I haven't responded to. I am more or less AFK and only get a brief amount of time to check in on DA and I always have more messages than I can respond to in that time. I appreciate every post and I am sorry if you left me a question that I did not respond to.

AFK

Just a quick note that I am going to be pretty much inactive for a few weeks, not that that hasn't already been the situation with me for the most part for a while now. Life is hectic.
Lati9s, if you come and murder me in my sleep sometime soon, please know that I don't blame you, and I afford you my apologies in advance.

Forgive my absence (please? :3) & cool blanket

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 10, 2012, 2:59 PM
Hello everyone!

It's been a while! I just wanted to throw a journal up since I know I've been more or less MIA for the past month or so. Real life has been very busy for me and I've had to pretty much stop on working on pony-related stuff for now, sadly. Besides a couple commissions I still owe certain people, I am basically on hiatus for the time being. I hate it, but there isn't much that can be done. I just wanted to say hi to everyone and apologize to those that might have left messages for me that I haven't responded to. I know there are lots and hopefully I can respond eventually.

Luckily there are many great vector artists in the community that more than make up for any slack from me so I'm happy knowing that nobody is really missing out on anything from me.

Also, just got something in the mail this week, wanted to share it with you all. Some of you might recall the project I undertook with the help of :iconmaximillianveers:, :iconqsteel:, :icondentist73548-floozy:, :iconblackm3sh:, :iconspaceponies:, :iconnightmaremoons: and :iconmetalbeersolid:

That was the complete recreation of the 2011's ComicCon limited run of pony posters given out by Hasbro to attendees who visited their booth!
It can still be found on the account we made for it here, if you are interested - :iconponycomicconposter:

Anyhow, we had made this in vector shapes so that it can be increased (or decreased) in size infinitely without loss in quality. What does that mean, you might be asking? It means it can be made into massive posters. For example. Here is one I had made that maxed out the cost I was willing to spend on a giant pony poster.

Pretty big, eh? Well it wasn't big enough for me, I wanted something even bigger. I also wanted to try something different than a giant paper poster, so I got this instead!

That is a giant fleece blanket! It's awesome and the colors came out great, way better than I had expected!

So yep, just wanted to share that. :D

Also, for those interested in having one of your very own, I used the great website www.artscow.com, specifically this product - [link]

They also make smaller sizes so if the cost of this huge one is too much for your taste, you can always get a smaller one.

Canadian Zellers-exclusive pony chocolate for sale

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 20, 2012, 9:05 AM
Hello everyone! I am in Canada, visiting :iconnabbiekitty: again! We saw a post on Equestria Daily about some MLP molded chocolate that is apparently exclusive to the Canadian chain of Zellers. Since the US does not have Zellers, and I know there are lots and lots of stateside bronies who would probably love to get their hands on one of these, so I'm bringing a few back with me. I've got them up on ebay here if you're interested - [link]

Every time you vote, a baby pegasus gets its wings

Please vote for Sparkle Slut here - [link]

I will forever cherish your assistance. :D

P.S. to all those who've asked, yes - I do plan on updating my journal skin with Tank the turtle when I get the chance.

Happy New Years!

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 31, 2011, 5:24 PM
It's not even midnight for me yet but I needed to clear out my last journal since I got what I needed.

Many thanks to :iconlarvitan: who was generous enough to donate a coupon to me that I was looking for. You rock!

So yep, see you all next year!

Steam Coupon/Gift Trading

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 31, 2011, 5:32 AM
Sorry, this isn't pony-related so if you don't have Steam you'll probably want to skip this journal! :P
To those that are participating in Steam's little gift thing with the coal and coupons and stuff, read on!

I'll just get straight to the point - I ended up with three coupons - 33% and 25% off coupons for Valve products, a 50% off Men of War:Vietnam, and the game The Last Templar.

Now, this kind of sucks for me since I already own every Valve game, and I don't really want the last two games there either. I am hoping beyond hope that somebody out there has a Bethesda coupon of some sort that they would be willing to trade for all this stuff because they have some games I actually do want and don't have yet. I'd happily trade the three coupons and game that I have for a single Bethesda coupon of any value and hopefully one of you have one and don't need it.

If there is anything else I can do in addition to trading my items like a vector or something, I'd be happy to do what I can.

So...eyup, just using the only means of communicating to a lot of people that I have, I apologize to those that don't know wtf I'm going on about.

Back from vacation!

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 29, 2011, 8:44 PM
Hello everyone!

I am back from my Christmas vacation that I spent with :iconnabbiekitty: in Texas with my family! It was lots of fun and I am broke. I have a few commissions to take care of so I probably won't be updating much unless I get that itch one late night to make some stuff.

I wanted to thank :iconaha-mccoy: for finally getting mine and Nabbie's icons done. They turned out exactly as we hoped! :D

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are all looking forward to the new year.

Going Home, Bye!

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 15, 2011, 1:34 PM
Flying home for ten days to spend the holidays with my family. :iconnabbiekitty: is coming to spend it with me, too! Definitely going to be the best Christmas I've ever had.
Not that I've been very active in the first place lately, but for the next ten days or so I'm going to be even more absent than usual. If I haven't responded to any comments you guys have left me, my apologies. Time is money these days for me. Have a great end of 2011!

Feeling Better, Maaaaybe Commissions?

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 4, 2011, 2:13 PM
First, many, many thanks to all of those that commented on my last journal. You all helped cheer me up quite a bit and I appreciate it very much. Not as stressed out as I was but I still have lots of work to do. I will try and get back to each of you individually when I can, I hate getting so many nice comments and not acknowledging them, so please know that I read each and every one and took your messages to heart.

Now, for commissions - even with all my time being eaten up, I am in the mood to try taking on a couple commissions. These would be vector commissions - I could do simple traces from screencaps from the show at your request, and these would be pretty cheap since they're easy to do, just time-consuming. I could also do custom pony characters for a slightly higher price.

If I was to do these, what prices would you all be willing to pay for them? It would only be for money (via Paypal or other means of giving me money electronically :P) I don't mind getting points for some things but for actual commissions I can only afford to use my time for monies!

I only bring this up because I'm always getting requests and I'm always having to turn people away. If I do these, it will ONLY be for vectors like the majority of my gallery consists of. It would not be for trotting ponies, icons, shrugponies (well, if you *really* want to pay me for a shrugpony, well....), etc. Just vectors. :)

I really hope I'm not going to regret doing these, but if I do I'm only going to take a few at a time since I am a slow worker. Please have patience!

Super Depressed

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 30, 2011, 1:50 PM
Hello everyone.

Sorry for bothering you about personal issues but I've got tons of questions and notes and stuff backed up and I figured I better just do this right now. I thought I'd be ready to get back to work on more art after my week of vacation but I came home to more problems and issues than ever and I feel freaking horrible right now, so I'm probably not going to be very active at all for a while. I just can't bring myself to work on stuff, there is so much stuff on my plate right now that I can't find the joy and time I had doing pony art that I once had. I still refuse to flat-out leave for good but I am definitely taking a longer break for now.

My apologies to all those who sent me notes and asked me questions and whatnot. I will try and answer them when I get some time and don't feel quite so miserable, but for now please have some patience. I really don't want to lose every bit of appeal this fandom has to me, so I've gotta step back for now. I will still check in when I can and try to get back to all of you. There are just so many messages waiting for me it's overwhelming.

Thanks for hearing me out.

Vanished!

Journal Entry: Fri Nov 25, 2011, 8:31 PM
Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of responses to those that have sent me notes or left me comments, as well as a lack of new content. I have been on vacation and I've been in Canada for the past week visiting :iconnabbiekitty:! I've been having a great time having lots of fun with my girl. Sadly, I have to head back home to the States (and work) at the end of the weekend. I'll get back to all of those who wrote me then!

And the winner is....

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 7, 2011, 6:01 AM
TROTSWORTH!!

With a final total of 98 votes, :icontrotsworth: is walking away with the winning prize. The initial winning pot was 800 points but I did promise bonus points for including some OCs of my friends and also if the entry was just really, really good. Trotsworth put a ton of effort into his entry and went well beyond what I was expecting anyone to do for this contest. Not only was it a huge 26-frame comic, but he did a bit of research on the other characters and used those traits to further the storyline. Bravo! For his efforts, Trotsworth is walking away with 1500 DA points.

:thumb266516538:

With a final tally of 24 votes, :iconqsteel: managed to hold his own pretty damn well in the polls against such an over-the-top entry from Trotsworth. Qsteel put up a very valiant effort and if there were more than just two entries I am sure his piece would still be one of the best in the field. His entry was by no means subpar and for his efforts I am still going to give him a reward of 800 points, partly because I said I would be giving prizes to other entries I liked besides the winning entry, and partly because he was the only one besides Trotsworth to participate and I feel he deserves plenty of recognition for that in addition to submitting a great entry!

Thanks to both of you guys, I am glad that, although only you two entered the contest, that you both produced some AWESOME work and made my contest worth the effort. Enjoy your winnings! :D

Halloween Contest Voting Begins!

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 3, 2011, 4:36 PM
Previous journal for the contest info - [link]

There were quite a few people who said they'd like to participate but even after extending the end date three days there are still only two entries that I am aware of, so time for voting!
(If you did an entry and forgot to tell me about it, let me know and I'll add it in!)

The very first entry was submitted by the awesome :icontrotsworth: and wow, it was one hell of an entry. I applaud his efforts at not only taking on my bonus challenge of including some of my pony friends, but actually apparently going a couple steps further by researching a bit about them and using their traits and abilities to further the unique and fun storyline. I am also amazed at how quickly he produced something that is also very well done. Thinking out the story, finding the characters, and doing the art all in the timespan that he managed is very impressive - I know I'd still be working on the first few panels right now if I tried something this epic. :P

So, bravo zulu to Trotsworth for a job well done. You went above and beyond my expectations.

The second entry is from my bud :iconqsteel: who was one of my teammates for the ComicCon Pony Poster project. His submission to the contest came just in time, so I'm glad there is some competition! It wouldn't have been as fun for Trotsworth to be the only person to have submitted an entry!

The first thing that grabbed my attention in this one was the depth of field. I really think it was done well. He made mention that he wasn't too happy with the background but I think it turned out great! The pumpkins look very nice. The thing going on with the horn is also really cool! The light effects are pretty awesome. I'm not sure what exactly is going on in this picture (and apparently neither does Qsteel :XD:) but that's okay, it leaves it up to the imagination and I enjoy coming up with stories to try and explain a picture. The gravestone leads me to believe that she is a zombie or ghost of some sort, and I guess pumpkins just really piss Moongaze off. I have basically let the community shape and refine my Moongaze character so stuff like this is always great to me. It is now canon. Moongaze hates pumpkins. Dunno why, but she does. ;)
But I digress...I think it's a really great picture with lots of mood, and it looks like Moongaze is gonna bite the crap out of the next thing that comes along and resembles a pumpkin, so watch out!

:thumb266516538:

And those are the two very awesome entries to my little contest thing. The voting can be done in my poll. Please share your thoughts with these two artists, I am sure they would love to get more feedback on their art! Thanks for reading and voting, and two very big thanks to Trotsworth and Qsteel for your participation, you guys rock.
