800 points - Moongaze Halloween Contest

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 26, 2011, 2:41 PM
Hmm...I wanted to do something cool for Halloween featuring Moongaze but I am super busy with stuff so I thought maybe I could sucker you guys into doin' some art for me. ;)

The contest "rules" are -

1)Needs to be something featuring Moongaze and Halloween/Nightmare Night

And that's pretty much it, I suppose. It can be any mood you like. Funny, scary, sexy, gory, I don't care - it's all fun. :)

Bonus points if it includes some of my close friends' OCs. I'll leave it up to you guys to figure out who those people are. ;)

(Oh, here are some references of Moongaze - [link]

It won't just be me judging, though! Once any and all entries are received, I will make a poll and let you all vote on which you like the best. I will ALSO hold a separate vote with my artist friends that I collaborate with for the :iconmlpfimonline: project. I'm not sure how I will tie the two votes into one another just yet, but I'm sure it will have some sort of use maybe...at the very least, if you do some really good art and would be interested in working on this game with us, this could be a good way to catch our eyes since I like to comb through peoples' galleries and I will do so for anyone who submits an entry for this contest, and I recommend people for the team when I get the chance so..yup...

TL;DR I'm bored and busy and have some points to spend and I want to see if anyone would actually do some decent Moongaze art for 800 points. If there are actually entries and I can't decide which one is my favorite or if there are a few really great ones then I will most likely award points to more than one person. This is a pretty loose contest. Just throw some art at me and maybe I'll throw some points at you. :P

The contest ends at the end of the month I guess.

Bad News

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 19, 2011, 12:22 PM
Okay. This has been literally months in the making and I am at the point where I do not feel it is possible for me to do - I have tried everything I can manage and each time there has been immoveable obstacles blocking the path. I can't dedicate the amount of time and funds it would cost me right now to be able to pull it off so, as of now, international orders for Dash Drives are a no-go.

I am terribly sorry that it had to turn out this way but I simply can't pull it off. I did a few small test orders with a couple people and it's going to be too expensive for you guys, too expensive for me, and there is the issue of not being able to get the drives sent to my PO box, and I do not have a regular street address. I am very sorry to disappoint all of you who were hoping to get one, I really am. There are a LOT of you, believe me - the amount of emails I have received asking about international orders is staggering.

Maybe sometime in the future something will change and I might be able to do it, but for now, consider the answer to the question "Do you or can you ship Dash Drives outside the US or Canada?" to be "No."

My deepest and most regretful apologies,

Moongaze

Promises From The Past

Journal Entry: Sun Oct 9, 2011, 6:17 PM
Okay, I've been growing increasingly panicky and guilty over the fact that I tend to promise to do things that people ask for and I get so overwhelmed that I can't even remember everything. I've been well beyond that point for many months, actually - there are so many things I've said I would do that I haven't done, and I apologize for that.

What I would really appreciate is if, in the past, you had asked me for something in particular, or if I had said I'd do something that you all would have liked to actually see come to fruition and I just never got around to it, PLEASE post those things here. If you can provide actual quoted text of me saying something that will make it even more meaningful! I WILL remember what I did or did not say so please don't post something here that is false, I will surely know once I read it. I might not remember saying things off the top of my head but once I am reminded I generally remember it.

So, please help me get a nice long list of all my so far unfulfilled promises to you all so that I can do my best to make them a reality.

Sorry for this thingy, journal follower people.

1. Who is the cutest pony of the mane six?
Cutest, but not necessarily favorite? I'll have to go with Fluttershy. Otherwise, Twilight.

:thumb260897603:

2. Who is the cutest pony of the entire fandom?
er, including OCs and stuff? Probably :iconthamutt:'s Frolic. I mean, look at how adorable Frolic is. Tell me she's not at least in the running for cutest pony of the fandom...

3. Why are there so many pegasi?
In the show, or in the fandom? If in the show, I hadn't really noticed - is there an imbalance? As far as in the fandom, people like feathery wings and all that. I nearly went with a pegasus myself but figured magic is way more badass and pertains more to my interests. Plus, I could totally magic myself some temporary wings or levitate myself or build some contraption with my magical prowess to help me fly if I wanted to, so unicorns are clearly the best choice. :D

4. would you like a banana?
mmmmmmmmmmmmmbananas?

5. Y U NO LOVE ME?
:|

6. If I dangled a pony figure in front of you, what would you do?
stare at it?

7. You wake up in ponyville what is the first thing you see?
The beginning of the rest of my life.

8. Somepony just stole your last cupcake
That's okay, I like pie more anyway.

9. Would you like some hot sauce with that?
on my pie? Er...no?

10. Are you breaking the rules?
I'm definitely breaking some rules here and there.

I tag: anypony who wants to do this! I don't like making people feel obligated to do these things so I'll leave it up to all of you to decide whether or not you want to do it. ;)

Ask me about BroNYCon

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 25, 2011, 9:03 AM
I had originally planned on doing a long write-up about the convention in New York, but there is just so much that went on (and I am so freakin' exhausted) that I figure it might be easier to answer any questions you all might have about the convention. I can compile any Q&A that are good into this journal as they come in.

Q : Did you get to meet Jayson, Seth, Ego and other famous people there? If so, how were they?
Also did you do any recording of the event? Would like to see that! ^^
And maybe an over-all how was it?

A : Yes, yes and yes. I actually went with a few others to pick Thiessen and his wife up from the airport and brought them to their hotel, so that was pretty cool. We were standing around in the airport with giant Rainbow Dash signs waiting to greet them.

Sethisto is actually sitting 4 feet away from me at the moment, and he was around all night at the convention in his Trixie hat and cape.

I was incredibly busy at the convention and did not get to record or photograph pretty much anything, but there were multiple crews there with professional grade recording equipment so I'm sure we'll see lots and lots of footage in the next week or so.

Overall, it was quite an experience. I definitely won't sign on to do so many different things as I barely got a chance to relax and have some fun until late into the evening. If I get to go to another one of these I will be an attendee and not a panel host or booth salesman. The Dash Drives sold out so that was great.

Livestream Raffle Confirmed for Saturday Night

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 16, 2011, 10:45 AM
All right, I've got a bit of time tomorrow evening (finally! :wow:) to do the raffle. I'll draw the names out of my top hat like last time. This raffle is for the 250GB external HDD in the color of your choice with a custom laser-engraved pony graphic! To those that aren't familiar with the raffles I do, the tickets are already gone but you're still more than welcome to come and watch. I will hang around afterward and draw for you guys if anyone is interested. :)

The time will be around 7:00PM EST @ [link] and go on for as long as people are hanging around I guess. :) The raffle won't be immediately at 7:00, that is just when I'll come online (roughly)  and I'll chat and let the stragglers come in. Once it seems like nobody else is showing up I'll do the raffle!

If you've got any questions or anything, ask me now :D

So...many...posts... :O

Wow...you all have once again succeeded in totally blowing me away. I can't believe how many people have wished me well, donated points and even gave me gift drawings. I am still working on replying to everyone! I think I need to take a break so my apologies to those I haven't responded to yet. I'm getting there! :P

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. All of your comments and notes helped make this a better birthday than I could have hoped for.

I'd like to give an extra-special thanks to :iconomniferious: and :icongeekscomeoutatnight: for helping me achieve my DA point goal with their extremely generous donations, not only just today but in the past as well. These two amazing people single-handedly provided the majority of DA points I now have. You guys are amazing, thank you!

I also extend those thanks to :iconblackm3sh: and :iconblackmorass: for their awesome art gifts, shown below.

Those are fantastic, thank you both very much! :meow:

(And again, I am still working my way through my remaining notes and comments you've all left for me. If anyone else has left me something particularly special like the gifts above, I'm sorry for not featuring those at this time, I haven't gotten to them yet. If they are there I will definitely post them up when I come across them! :D )

Raffle Livestream

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 9, 2011, 9:48 AM
UPDATE - Okay, just got called in for duty tonight so I guess that answers my question about whether or not I do the raffle stream tonight. :/

I have duty tomorrow night as well which is why it wasn't an option (Otherwise tomorrow would have been the night I did the stream) so it looks like it is either going to be this Sunday evening OR next weekend.
_________________________________________
When should I do it? Check my poll for the possibilities. It would be nice to do it next weekend but I've already postponed it a week and I don't want to anger anyone who bought a ticket.

September won't be having a raffle at this point due to a few factors that are out of my control. Sorry about that. August's raffle ticket purchases were very successful, though - MORE tickets sold this time than July's raffle, which I did not expect to happen at all. This allows me to offer more and better prizes for the next raffle I run so that is really awesome. October should have something good for sure! :D

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you that watch and visit my account. I never in a million years expected this sort of success with this pony stuff! I am sorry that I haven't uploaded anything new for you all in quite a while now. I've been very busy behind the scenes with stuff both pony-related and with my job that has kept me from having time to work on stuff to post here.

To those that didn't catch my other journal, the Dash Drive raffle should be next weekend if all goes well. Sorry to those that bought tickets and are waiting to see if you won, I thank you for your patience!

BroNYCon, Raffle, etc.

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 2, 2011, 3:58 PM
The raffle is delayed until next weekend due to work, so I'll leave it open for another week. Sorry about that.

I am going to be at the September 24 BroNYCon if work permits. We've got a lot of stuff going on and everything is getting delayed and shifted around thanks to these dumb hurricanes. Hopefully I don't get screwed at the last minute as I really look forward to going to that. I plan on bringing along some Dash Drives for Purple Tinker to add to the raffle as well as some custom ones to sell with the BroNYCon logo. I'll also bring along my laptop and monitor to do some demo stuff if anyone is interested, as well as some stuff for the MLP Online game that I'm helping out on with a bunch of awesome people. So yeah, if anyone else is going to that, let me know! :iconmaximillianveers: is also flying in (my partner in crime for the Dash Drive graphics and, more recently, the ComicCon Pony Poster reproduction) so you can meet him too!

August Raffle Reminder

Journal Entry: Sun Aug 28, 2011, 11:52 AM
Since I haven't mentioned this month's raffle once since the beginning of the month, I figured it'd be a good idea to remind everyone that there are only a couple days left until ticket purchases for this month's raffle are closed.

The raffle is for an external 250GB hard drive in your choice of color, three lines of engraved text (optional) and your choice of pony graphic, which can be seen here : [link]

The purchase page for the raffle tickets is here : [link]

Tickets are $1 apiece, anyone can buy them regardless of where you live, so long as you have an address I can ship to, and you can buy as many tickets as you like. The drawing will be held in the first week of September, depending on when I have an evening to do it. I will probably try to do another livestream if you all are interested. I know a few people stuck around afterward to watch me mess around in Photoshop and I'd be more than happy to do so again if anyone wants to do that. :)

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Hurricane? More Like Bore-icane

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 27, 2011, 8:56 AM
Now that I've caught your attention with my horrible journal title, I wanted to let you all know that this supposed storm of the century is hardly even a tropical storm right now, at least where I'm at. According to the radar I am in the worst of it and it's just a slightly windier-than-average rainstorm. I've experienced storms more hurricane-like than this back in Texas...so, what that means is I'm not going to bother streaming the storm. There really is nothing to see at all. I am rather disappointed.

It also means that all you guys further up the coast probably don't have too much to worry about - by the time it reaches New York it's probably going to be a light drizzle at this rate...still, I don't want to be accountable for any mishaps, so don't let your guard down, just in case. :)

Change of Plans

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 25, 2011, 9:10 PM
Well, there I was sitting on the beach with the rest of my team yesterday, surrounded by our gear and vehicles and waiting to get ferried out to the ship when we had to stand down at literally the last minute. Turns out the Marines and their gear were taking up too much space on the ship for us to fit on as well, apparently. Team one still got to go but my team was put on standby. What that means is we could still possibly get to help out, but it will probably only be after the hurricane has passed before we mobilize. Pretty bummed out about that.

But now I get to wait out the hurricane on land. I absolutely loooove storms, so this will be pretty awesome to experience. I do not know yet whether they will evacuate our base but it seems likely. I really hope they don't, though; I have nowhere to go here in Virginia and I rather sit it out than have to go be a bum somewhere for a couple days. This building is very solid and I'm on the third floor and have plenty of food and water so I rather just stay. We'll see. If I do get to stay, then I will try to Livestream the storm as it's coming in; dunno how well the power will hold up here so if it goes out, oh well. Doesn't hurt to try.

And thank you so much to everyone who commented on my last journal; your well-wishes were very much appreciated and boosted my spirits quite a bit while our team was still  getting to go. It means a lot to me. :D

Going Away for a Bit

Journal Entry: Tue Aug 23, 2011, 10:23 PM
My command was put on 24-hour notice today that we will be deploying Wednesday afternoon; it was a big surprise and very, very short notice. We are going to be a DRT (disaster response team) in preparation for the incoming hurricane. I'll be at sea for a bit but I do not know where we'll be assisting, if we're needed at all. I won't be on here for at least a week, minimum.

Also, we're really close to the epicenter of the earthquake that occured on the East Coast today; that was pretty interesting. I haven't been in an earthquake for years. Exciting day, eh?

Giant Pony Poster Raffle?

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 12, 2011, 12:37 PM
Soooo...I was thinkin', now that this giant poster has been made, I need to get some prints of it.
Then I thought, I'm sure some people would love to have one as well but probably wouldn't want to spend a large amount of money on one.
Then I thought "I should totally raffle one off!"

And that is where you all come in. If I am gonna do this raffle, I need to know which size most of you would prefer to have if you won it. I don't want to make it too big if only a couple people actually have room enough to display it.

The three sizes I am considering are:
small-23.2"x15" (58.93cm x 38.1cm)
medium-33.1"x21.4" (84.07cm x 54.36cm)
large-46.9"x30.3" (119.13cm x 76.96cm)

Obviously the super ginormous one would be epic to have, but sometimes people are more interested in reality than epicality and want something they can fit on their wall so if you want to participate in a raffle for one of these posters and care what size it will be, speak now or forever hold your peace. :)

Also, would you all prefer the version with all the text and logos (Comic Con 2011, copyright info, Hasbro logo, Hub logo, MLP:FiM logo) or the version with only the MLP:FiM logo? I'm getting a version without the extra stuff for myself, but some of you might want it to match the original poster as exactly as possible.

Also, NO THE OC characters won't be in the balloon, it'll just be Cherry and Orion.

So yup, let me know so that I can get the poster made and the raffle started ASAP. :D

P.S. Here is the poster in it's most recently updated form. [link]

Help a Friend Out!

Journal Entry: Sun Aug 7, 2011, 6:00 PM
:iconjavkiller: recently had an incident with his Wacom that he worked hard to get the spare cash to buy. Now he needs some more commissions in order to buy a replacement! He is offering $30 commissions which is a fantastic deal. Just take a look at his gallery and you'll see for yourself! He is one of the artists on the MLP:FiM Online game so you've probably already seen his work if you follow fan projects like that.

So yup, he's a cool guy and definitely needs a tablet for his awesome art to continue. Thanks for reading. :)

Old Raffle Out, New Raffle In!

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 6, 2011, 8:22 PM
Well the first Dash Drive raffle is now over! The stream went fairly well after some technical difficulties at first with the audio, but after that it was good. I drew ten names for free raffle tickets for the August raffle, and then drew the winner for the 16GB drive. I then decided to be nice and did a following drawing for a 4GB drive as well. Congrats to the winners! I will be sending out notice emails to the winners of the drives (although both winners happened to be there for the stream, coincidentally enough. That was pretty cool.)

After the raffle a few people stuck around and watched me make a vector of Dr. Whooves. I'm sure that was very exciting to watch. ;) All in all, I think it went pretty well. I wouldn't mind doing this for future raffles if enough people are interested in continuing them. I will definitely work on coming up with more entertaining things to do; I kind of winged it this time since I ran out of time to get everything ready that I wanted to do but I'll be prepared next time, I promise. :P

The August raffle has begun, too! It is for a 250GB external hard drive, engraved with a Dash Drive graphic, three lines of text, and in the color all of the winner's choice. Tickets can be purchased here: [link]

Tickets will be able to be purchased until the end of the month for a dollar apiece, just like last time.
