Ask me about BroNYCon

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 25, 2011, 9:03 AM
I had originally planned on doing a long write-up about the convention in New York, but there is just so much that went on (and I am so freakin' exhausted) that I figure it might be easier to answer any questions you all might have about the convention. I can compile any Q&A that are good into this journal as they come in.

Q : Did you get to meet Jayson, Seth, Ego and other famous people there? If so, how were they?
Also did you do any recording of the event? Would like to see that! ^^
And maybe an over-all how was it?

A : Yes, yes and yes. I actually went with a few others to pick Thiessen and his wife up from the airport and brought them to their hotel, so that was pretty cool. We were standing around in the airport with giant Rainbow Dash signs waiting to greet them.

Sethisto is actually sitting 4 feet away from me at the moment, and he was around all night at the convention in his Trixie hat and cape.

I was incredibly busy at the convention and did not get to record or photograph pretty much anything, but there were multiple crews there with professional grade recording equipment so I'm sure we'll see lots and lots of footage in the next week or so.

Overall, it was quite an experience. I definitely won't sign on to do so many different things as I barely got a chance to relax and have some fun until late into the evening. If I get to go to another one of these I will be an attendee and not a panel host or booth salesman. The Dash Drives sold out so that was great.

Ask anything? Okay: How was it?

I'm kidding. Eh... Could you name a single highlight og which you are very proud of to have experienced?

It was a blast. A single highlight? Well, I thought it was awesome when later in the day when I had nothing to do I set up my monitors and speakers to stream episodes from the show and ended up having half the venue sitting there watching episodes at one point, which I found hilarious. I was busy watching on my laptop screen and when I looked up and saw the giant crowd sitting there that had materialized out of nowhere, that was kind of startling. :O

One thing that ended up being important was the fact that I had driven up in my truck and it was more or less crucial in getting the majority of the convention supplies and merchandise to and from the venue, so I am extremely happy to have been helpful to the team.

There were a lot of other really awesome things I got to do (Like helping pick Thiessen and his wife up from the airport, etc) that made it a very one-of-a-kind experience.

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. You don't happen to have a picture of the crowd, now do you? xD

Hmm...

Very curious about it, but nah. Oh, I was asked to ask you:
How many people were there? His estimation was about 2000 max.
Would you say more, or less?

Who said 2,000? That's a bit over the top. :O There was somewhere between 300-350 people at its peak.

Sounds like it was a pretty good time. Hopefully I'll have the time and money to make it out to the one for next year!

Well they're every three months so the next one is in December. Lauren Faust might be attending that one, too.
